Citrus trees fertilizer and soil?
I have a key lime and a improved dwarf meyer lemon. Would standard miracle gro potting mix and fertilizer be best, or would miracle gro orchid potting mix and meracid fertilizer (For acid loving plants) be best. Or does it really even matter that much. Standard miracle gro fertilizer is 24-8-16 and miracid is 30-10-10
What is the Best Fertilizer for Potted Citrus Trees (Lemon)?
I have about 7 potted lemon trees that I take inside for the winter and leave outside in the summer (I live in Michigan so they wouldn't live in the winter outside, I have plant lights on them also) and was wondering what the best fertilizer for these citrus trees would be..please give me fertilizer brands or any tips you may have. Pleeeease Help! :)
What fertilizer do I use for a dwarf lemon tree?
The tree produced nine blossoms a few weeks ago. It is only six months old. I keep it indoors during the winter, under a uv light. Can I just use miracle grow, or do citrus trees need something special?
How often should i use ThriveYates Fertiliser on Citrus trees?
I have just brought and put Thrive Yates Fertiliser on Citrus trees and was wondering how often i should put it on my trees? I have also been told by bunnings here in Townsville to use Dynamic lifter on my fruit trees every 4 months. I am wondering how often i should use Dynamic Lifter?
How can I encourage my Citrus trees to bear fruit?
I have three young trees (lemon, Lime, and Orange) outside in my yeard. The lime has had many blooms, but no fruit has made it past pea size. The lemon has only had 3 blossoms in 3 years. The orange has not had any blossoms since I first planted it. I fertilize every ~3 months with a citrus fertilizer. How can I encourage fruit production? Also am interested in remedies for leaf miners.
How can I fix citrus trees that have sour fruit?
On one side of the backyard is a tangelo tree and on the other side is a kumquat. Both have fruit that are kind of sour. How do I fix that? Do I change the fertilizer? Do I add lime to the soil? Do I bring in a third citrus tree like a mandarin orange for cross pollination?
I have a dwarf Mexican lime tree and the leaves are falling off the tree what could be the problem?
I have a small dwarf Mexican Lime Tree and the leaves are falling off? What could be the problem? I water it once a week and give fertilizer to it about once a month? The tree I have is about 8 months old and is about 3 feet tall but has been losing about 1-3 leaves a day...is that normal? Also any ideas to get it to grow faster? Any special type of fertilizer anyone has used that works better than others for citrus trees? PLEASE no Mexican jokes..I have had enough of them! The tree is planted outside year around..
Can I plant native climbers close behind a lemon tree or will the citrus fertiliser kill the climbers?
have created a long narrow garden bed against a fence in my back yard. I was planning on putting in native climbers such as Hardenbergia and Hibbertia scandens to cover the wall, with low shrubs at the front. However, I am now thinking of adding in a small lemon tree and perhaps a passionfruit vine. My query is whether the fertilisation of the lemon tree will adversely affect the native climbers or the passionfruit and whether the lemon and passionfruit would do better close together (for feeding purposes) or more distant (to reduce competition). Thanks, Kate Alexander Heights, WA
How can I help my orange tree to grow?
I bought and planted a little baby orange tree (Washington navel) about 2 years ago, and then neglected it. I don't know how it survived without being watered! It has gotten so dry in the past that all of its leaves have fallen off. It is about the same size as when I bought it 2 years ago (so sad). It does have leaves at least now, although sparse. I put citrus fertilizer on it, and have started watering it daily. Is there anything else I can do to help my sick little tree to grow up healthy and strong?
Fertilize citrus tree in southern California ?
When is the best time to fertilize?..., what should the n-p-k be?...is there a specific fertilizer?.... Shoul I add bone meal to bring up the phosphate? --- bearss lime ---tangerine---grape fruit. Thanks
Best fertilizer organic for house plants?
I have been using organic fertilizer for months now and nothing seems to be greening up my leaves. I have gardenias, citrus trees and jasmine and the flowers are ubundant though. I have been all kinds of fish fertilizers and especially Neptunes Harvest and yet leaves are still light green to yellow. I have been told Organic is too low in nutrient for plants needs..What is the strongest Organic that fills all the house plants requirements for deep green leaves and flowers? I am tired of supplementing stuff like Epsom salt and others to hopefully think That it will help the organic not working for me.
Yellow leaves on my lemon tree cut tree back?
I inherited some lemon trees at this house in Arizona. When I got here was many yellow leaves and dead branches. Am using citrus food and plants are sprouting new leaves. If I don't like the yellow leaves should I cut plant way back for the yellow leaves to turn green? The yellow leaves aren't turning back. I water regularly and have applied citrus fertilizer. It's been 3 months.
Why does my dwarf lemon tree have some yellowing of leaves?
Planted the dwarf lemon tree about 2 months ago. It was planted where the was previously a gravel yard. The tree was about 1.5 feet tall when removed from the pot and planted. The hole was dug out to 1.5 feet deep x 1.5 feet diameter and top soil was mixed with the dirt at a 1:1 ratio. Also mixed in some citrus fertilizer. The tree is watered every day with about a half gallon of water. Some of the leaves are yellow. Also planted a tangerine tree next to it about a month ago and the tangerine is looking good. I live in So Cal.
Bitter lemons from a Myer Lemon Tree?
I live in Florida and have a well established Myers Lemon Tree which produces bitter lemons. This is not good for making lemonade. I have used citrus fertilizer stakes and it gets plenty of sun and water. Has anybody heard of such a thing and what can be done to get the tree to produce better lemons? It did not go through a freeze nor does it have the dreaded canker.
Citrus tree and apricot/peach tree has foliage problems?
I have two orange trees in my backyard. Both of them grow beautiful leaves in the spring and are heavily blossomed, but slowly as the leaves mature the leaves begin to curl and bow into little boats. Some of the leaves swirl and curl up onto themselves. One of the trees is severely stunted. It's been in my backyard for at least 8 years and still it grows no taller than 3 1/2 feet tall. The other one is of a fair size but it's trunk is still very narrow for being minimum of 8 years old. I have an apricot/peach/something else graphed tree in my front yard that seems have the same problem. It seems only one of the graphs aren't effected by it though, I dont know which fruit graph is which so I cant say which one isn't effected, it has heart shaped leaves if that helps, and doesn't get the curling effect, it does however flag after the leaves are done growing. I water each tree often so I dont think it has anything to do with lack of water. I had a cherry tree die last year of some sort of boring beetle. It left little holes through out the trunk that turned into huge cracks and left small black burnt holes in the leaves. I also have some jasmine plants with powdery mildew that I am treating. The spray I have says not to use it on apricot/peach type trees so I haven't put any on the trees. I dont think the orange has a fungus, but maybe I'm wrong? Could my orange and apricot trees have the same thing wrong with it? Could they just be lacking nutriets? Ive never fertilized them, maybe that will help? Can I give them the same type of fertilizer? More water? Some sort of spray on treatment? Tell me how to make my trees healthy please!
Citrus trees dying.?
I am caring for a property in hot southern California in the desert near Palm Springs. The mature orange and lemon tree on the property seems to be slowly dying. No new leaves are forming and the old ones have fallen off. I have also planted 3 other baby citrus trees (grapefruit, lemon, lime) and only one of those (grapefuit) is leafing and flowering. The other 2 lost their leaves and the trees look like green sticks in the ground. I have been watering them every other day and removing some of the dead limbs. Does anyone have any advice on saving the remaining trees and any tips on keeping baby citrus trees healthy and growing? Do I need a specific fertilizer? Any answers would be helpful. PS All of the other plants on the property are thiriving---however most of them are drought and heat tolerant. (Bougainvilla, cactus, fig, oleander, palms.)
Please Help Me with my peach tree problem.?

I looked at the tree this morning and nothing was wrong but when I got home from work the leaves had spots on them. It got pretty hot today up to 93 degrees. I live in Greenville, SC. And for the past couple of days the tree has had insects on it such as ants and spiders. I brought tree three days ago and it had some yellow leaves but the guy i brought it from said it was from stress. I planted the tree in Miracle Gro Tree and Shrub soil, organic soil conditioner and mushroom compost. And the day after I put down Vigoro Root stimulator around trees roots. I put down fertilizer two Miracle Gro Fruit and Citrus Fruit tree spike and some Hi Yield Fruit Tree Fertilizer. The tree looks healthy and has grown some since i planted it. Can anyone tell me what this is and what i should do.
Mandarin fruit fall off tree early, why?
Hi, I am unsure of trees age but must be at least 7 years old. The tree seems healthy with no fungus or pests. The fruit seems to fall off early. Sometimes it gets as big as a mandarin should be but will not ripen on the tree. It is always fully green still. I live in a coolish climate- may snow once to twice a year. and it is now autumn. I have given it some citrus fertiliser several weeks back but no change yet.
Trouble with my Lime tree?
Ok, I bought a Mexican Lime tree 3 months ago and it has been growing fine. It is still just a baby and in a pot. My problem is that the tag on it says that it is suppossed to bloom year round, but it has never had a single tiny bloom. The tree is growing quite quickly and looks really healthy, but absolutely no blooms. It has been replanted from a small pot to a larger one also. I called a plant store and they recomended using some citrus fertilizer spikes. They said to just take about an 1/8th of one spike because too much for a young tree would kill it. Well I tried that and almost by the next day the leaves started looking like they had bleach spots on them. What do I do?! I want Limes! Helllllllllllllllllp! PS- I live in Texas and it gets full sun and comes inside if it gets too cold at night.
Why are my citrus trees dying?
During this Spring, I bought four dwarf citrus trees. I kept them on my front steps this summer, with plenty of sun. I've taken them inside for the fall and winter. Now they're losing their dark green color, making me wonder if they're getting enough sunlight and producing enough chlorophyll. I don't believe in using fertilizer or plant supplements. What is the problem and is there a solution?
Is 12-5-7 fertlizer ok for citrus plants? ?
I can't find any small bags of citrus fertilizer. I have one dwarf lemon and lime tree in a pot, they are flowering like crazy. But fruit is dropping off prematurely. I do believe it's a fertilizer problem. I was just making sure the 12-5-7 was ok that's all.
Lemon tree is not growing anymore. Is it dying?
I have a lemon tree - two yrs old 3ft tall bearing fruits. It is not growing any more . Its leaves getting yellow. The leaves started having holes. Lemon Tree Problems?
How often do lemon trees need feeding? i have a citrus fertilizer which i use about once a week on my plant ( im going on what the label told me) , and so far its only produced a few flowers which died and the start of a few lemons sprouting, but now theyre dying too - i thought lemon trees didnt need feeing that often, but it looks like it might not be the case, but i dont want to over feed it either - what do i do? its producing lots of green leaves, but as soon as the flowers or any sign of lemons appear, they die.... xxxxxxxxx
Homemade Fertilizer Recipe - is it good or bad?
My wife makes her own homemade fertilizer which looks disgusting. She places egg shells, banana peels , whatever green vegetable scraps she has on hand, coffee and coffee grounds, some Epsom salt and Liquid Seaweed into a large pot of water and lets it cook for a while. After that she strains the liquid into a bucket, adds it to water to use for water out plants It all looks pretty gross so I'm wondering do you think this concoction is as good, better or worse than if she just used Miracle Grow? She's using it on some newly planted rose bushes, citrus trees (two lemon meyers and a lime) , a fig tree, Magnolia tree, pecan tree and a Loquat Tree. It's too soon to tell if this stuff is doing any good. Thanks! She does end up putting all this garbage in a compost after boiling it. Sorry, she doesn't Boil it.. my bad, said that after I read Mathew's statement. She just cooks it at a medium heat for a while.
How do I care for my meyer lemon tree?
I think this actually may be a lime tree, how can i tell? I water every other day, my tree is about 6 feet tall, and gets full sunlight. It is growing, but none of the flowers will bloom into fruit. There are 2 golf ball sized fruits on it right now, and they are grass green. I use citrus fertilizer every 3 months. When will they turn yellow, or how can I tell if its a lime tree? It is potted. I believe in a 5 gallon pot.
I live in the arid desert of Arizona and the leaves on my fruit trees are turning yellow. What is the problem?
Is it low iron? Lack of fertilizer? My drip system sucks so I use a soaker hose once or twice a week. Two of the fruit trees are fine; the other two are looking sickly. They get the most sun throughout the day. I bought some citrus fertilizer with iron and will feed them with that, but I wanted to throw this out first to see your responses. I did fertilize them in the early spring before the heat set in. Our daily temps have been around 115. Thanks for your answers! Much appreciated.
i have a fig tree question!?
i want to buy a fig tree next year in early spring, i want to plant it in my back yard, but i only have a 6 foot space on the sides for the tree, how much are fig trees usually in north california? i also want to keep it short, is it ok to trim it after harvest? what kind of fertilizer should i use? can i use miracle grow for fruit trees and citrus, or for fruit trees and nut trees. thanx!
Citrus from seed?
Hello, I have started some tangerine seeds in the good high quality potting soil. They have come up. I have noticed that just one seed contains many tree trunks, so I have successfully separated them and they are doing well. The tangerines were purchased from a grocery store. Has any one successfully gotten seedlings like this to later produce fruit? If so how long did it take, and what soil and fertilizer is best for them to produce? I have read that every citrus seed will not produce fruit.
Avocado tree not producing fruit, what can I do?
The tree is a beautiful tree in great health, about 30 years old. It used to produce boxes and boxes of avocado's every year, but in the past 3 years maybe one or two fruit only. I feed it regularly with a citrus feeder/ all purpose fertiliser, it gets regular watering. I had it cut back earlier in the year because the branches were hanging really low, and it has grown back, so it seems to me the tree has plenty of energy...HELP PLEASE ANYONE! Leaves are for the most part green and glossy, some are a little "wind burnt" as we live on the coast.
All Fruit Trees yielding fewer fruits?
Hello All This is my first time here so please excuse my ignorance... I can say I am a decent gardener who likes to keep the backyard lively with trees and shrubs and a green lawn. I love to spend time in my back yard. There is something that has been bothering me lately. I have 4 big (12-15 ft) fruit trees in my backyard. One is Persimmon, 1 asian Pear, 1 Guava, and 1 Orange tree although I do not know exactly which Orange it is. I live in Anaheim, California. I moved into the house in 2004. The yield on all the trees except the guava was phenomenal. I literally had to give away bags and bags of fruits. However since last year the yield is reduced drastically. This year there were no Persimmon (well may be a couple dozen), the Orange tree is drying out from the top on one branch. I had trimmed another branch last year because it had dried as well. But this is a new one. And there is absolutely no oranges - there are a few (less than a dozen) green ones but its like 1% of before. There is only a few Asian pears and almost no guavas. I remember last year my neighbor cut down a tree. Is it the wind that is causing all these issues? I don't think so because Persimmon and asian pear are on the other side and they have same yield problems. I had used fertilizer as well - Citrus fertilizer for Orange and the generic Fruit and Vegetable for the others. I am still very surprised that the yield reduced in all of them around the same time since last year. Do I need more fertilizer? I am afraid to overuse it. Could it be the soil? I have been reading this board and about how soil pH balance can cause such issues. I do not water the trees, just what the lawn sprinkler puts out. Which brings to another point - could it be because of over watering? I used to run sprinklers 2 times a day. I recent cut back because of the water shortage but just another thing to think about... Any thoughts and help would be appreciated. please help me save my trees!
All purpose fertiliser?
I've bought an all plant universal fertiliser which has nitrogen, potassium and fosforous in it. I just want to know if it is suitable for roses, camellia and citrus trees because I know they have different needs? Thanks for the sarcasm. I was double checking because i've been told roses need potassiun and acid loving plants dont. I just don't want to kill anything
Dwarf Key Lime. Acid or Alkaline soil?
I ordered a Dwarf Key Lime tree just a few days ago, and I'm waiting for it to get here. Before I ordered it, I started looking around on the web for what kind of soil I should pot it in. I read that citrus trees (I figured that included Dwarf Key Limes) are acid loving plants. So, I bought Miracle Grow Orchid Mix, for acid loving plants. Now Im reading thats just a rumor, and really they are neutral to alkaline. What REALLY confuses me though, is that almost everyone says that Miracid (Miracle Grow Fertilizer for acid loving plants) is really good. Why would a plant that is neutral or alkaline love an acid fertilizer? But, thats beside the point. What really matter is what kind of soil should I plant it in. Other than the orchid mix, I do have a bag of the good old regular Miracle Grow Potting Mix. Maybe I would be better off using it. Or mixing the two bags together? Or maybe I should just plant some Orchids lol
Our orange trees have yellow lives?
We planted two orange trees about three months ago. We water them regularly and feed every month but for some reason bottom leavs turning yellowish. What does it mean? Too much water? Not enough water? Not enough fertiliser? Or something else? P.S. We use "citrus and fruit trees food" by E.B. Stone
Planting citrus, will the fruit survive the transplant?
I just got a dwarf eureka lemon and a dwarf bearss lime tree from the local nursery. When I bought them, they both had a young crop of fruit on them. My question is: now that they are in the ground and getting plenty of water and fertilizer, will the fruit continue to grow and and be tasty? Or, will they drop off and the trees go back into vegetative/flowering state? I was careful about planting them and did so immediately after bringing them home. They have been in the ground for about two weeks and so far so good, but the fruit doesn't seem to have gotten bigger. What do you think?
Mixing fertilisers, does it work?
I am growing citrus trees mostly and want to know if it is ok to mix tomato 4-4-8, houseplant 8-8-8 and bone meal 4-10-0? All I know is it needs to be high in nitrogen. If I get the quantity right, will it benefit the trees or harm them?
Need Some Answers About Two Meyer Dwarf Lemon Trees?
We have 2 Meyer Dwarf Lemon trees, one planted in the ground and one on the porch, planted in a large pot. Both trees get at least 8 hours full sunlight. The tree in the ground produces about 2-3 lemons annually. The potted tree produces about the same. Every year both trees flower with many blossoms and little lemons. But many of the little lemons turn yellow and drop off, leaving only a few lemons that ripen to maturity. I have applied special citrus fertilizers, leaf yellowing minerals, organic fertilizers, Miracle Grow at different times to correct the problems and so far nothing helps. Many of the leaves are still yellow and new leaves don't sprout very often. The gardener here has no answers but says the trees aren't dying/ Can anyone here help with getting some answers so the trees will bear more fruit. Thanks for any help. The trees are in Los Angeles. I am watering them 2-3 times weekly from recommendations by the local nursery.
What ordinary kitchen throw outs are good for potted fruit trees and flowering shrubs and what works best ...?
I was given some great advice by a friend last year about putting tea on my potted citrus trees. This worked almost miraculously and they have budded to the max and look fantastic. I would like to know more about the sort of things that we just throw out that might be good for plants. I cant make compost where I live so that is out, but I have heard that egg shells and banana skins are beneficial, but Im not sure which plants benefit from which??? I'd also appreciate any other handy tips for keeping potted fruit and flowering trees healthy without having to use too many expensive fertilizers. Ty
Valencia orange tree?
We planted a Valencia orange when we bought the house five years ago. We live in coastal GA, which is Zone 8b. That first winter, it didn't survive, but a new shoot that came up from the ground has now grown over the past 4 years into a 5-6 foot sapling. The leaves are very healthy, but no signs of flowering yet. What can I expect? Other than citrus fertilizer, is there anything I should be doing? Thanks!
Why is my lemon tree dropping all of its leaves?
I have an established lemon tree that produced fruit the last two years. It produced blossoms this year and is just starting to grow fruit, but all of the leaves dropped off of it. What is the problem? Is it dying? We recently put a citrus tree fertilizer spike in the soil.
When to apply fertilizer to potted citrus trees?
I have 2 potted citrus trees and I was wondering when to fertilize them (they are still indoors but there are flowering starting to bloom now). My question is when should I fertilize them and is it safe to fertilize them when they are flowering? (will the fertilizer kill the flowers?). I have been doing some research on the internet regarding these 2 issues but I cannot find any definitive answer. Any and all help is appreciated!
What fertilizer to use for indoor potted citrus trees?
I have 2 citrus trees a Eureka lemon tree and a Page mandarin orange tree indoors in a pots. I was wondering which fertilizer I should use? (i can't get any citus specific fertilizers because citrus trees do not grow in my area which is why they are indoors and potted). I was looking at the following 2 fertilizers: http://www.homedepot.ca/product/all-purpose-liquid-plant-food-12-kg/917256 http://www.homedepot.ca/product/miracle-gro-houseplant-spikes-6-12-6/917463 would these be good? is there anything you can recommend that would be available in a store in a cold climate country?
Mandarin Tree is dropping oranges after I put fertilizer on it!?
I have a small potted Mandarin Tree in my window, I just bought it about two weeks ago and it had a TON of tiny green oranges on it. I added some Citrus Tone to the soil right away when I brought it home but now about half of the oranges have turned a weird yellowy-orange color and fallen off! Also, there's this weird white fluff growing on the Citrus Tone- what the heck is that?! The "colony forming units" maybe? I'm afraid I might have used too much! The directions measured the Citrus Tone in pounds- but it's only a 9 inch pot.... so I'm not sure.... :( I just put a inch thick layer on top and mixed it in a little. My house is about 60F and I mist the tree at least once a day. Not the sunniest place ever, but it gets a decent amount of light in the morning from my window. So what do you think is wrong? why are the oranges falling off and what's the white fluff? :) Thanks!!! Haha, retarded I know! But the directions on the bag were pretty vague- it's a part soil/ part fertilizer though- so don't be too freaked out! I'd NEVER put an inch of pure fertilizer on it! The tree itself looks really good anyway.... Thanks! :)
Citrus trees loosing leaves and flowering?
I have a grapefruit and orange tree which I planted sometime in the fall/winter. They're pretty young trees that are only 3-4 feet tall. For whatever reason, my grapefruit tree lost all it's leaves about a month and a half ago, and started to regrow new ones. But the leaves are sickly looking. They're sort of bumpy and almost seem to be yellowing. My orange tree is doing a little better. But it is loosing its leaves as well. The strange thing about this tree is that it has flowered a few times over the course of a few months. This is the 3rd time it has grown flowers. What could be causing this? I live in Phoenix, Arizona. The trees have plenty of sunshine and I water them with a hose every 2-3 days. I added fertilizer around the perimeter of the trees a few months ago. Clarification: I planted them sometime LAST fall/winter.

I think this lychee tree is dead..tell me I'm wrong and I can still save it doing something I haven't yet?
I bought it from a well-known local nursery at the end of January and repotted it to a huge pot at the end of February. I live in Florida. I did not break up the roots or disturb it in any way. I used a mix of local soil / sand (more soil than sand unlike most "dirt" around here) and dried out pond muck from a thriving pond with bajillions of fishies in it all the time. Probably about 1/2 gallon of the latter and the rest was the local sand/dirt, which also contains "biological matter" according to the bag. = ) Since I brought it home it's been losing leaves, 0-3 a day. It's trying to make new growth, but sooo slowly and it's losing 3x the leaves it makes! It's also supposed to be flowering by now but I suppose moving it may have delayed that. It came pre-sprayed (with some peach-colored stuff) for these little white ashy bugs, which reappeared after transplanting but have not been seen again since I sprayed it with a miticide/fungicide/insecticide 3 in 1 product. I've seen 2 different kinds of mushrooms in the pot despite being sure not to water too often but neither looks like those pictured for "mushroom root rot". It's a Dwarf Emperor Lychee which grows well in containers, that's why I got it. I was told it was about a year old, a product of air-layering, in a 3-gallon pot then, and it thrives in Florida's climate, especially exactly where I'm at! So I must be doing something wrong. I always let it dry out before watering but no longer than a day. I fertilized it with citrus tree fertilizer about a month ago. I have access to everything to make great compost and my other plants all love it. None of the things I've done have made it any better or worse it's just been losing leaves and now it only has 3 left! WTF Please help me save this tree I've been wanting one for years and I already love it! Plus I paid alot for it and I can't get another now. I'll do anything at all to save it. Thanks for any and all advice!
My New Orange Tree is Dying, Branches Turning Brown and Sparse Leaves?
I planted a young 2-year-old navel orange tree last Christmas but a year on, it is not a happy tree. It has not grown at all during the year (no new branches or shoots) and the leaves it does have are very sparse and they curl up at the edges like a spoon. The leaves seem thin, unlike the thick waxy leaves of my other (thriving) orange tree. The leaves have good color (no yellowing or marks) but they fall off at the slightest wind. Recently some of the smaller twigs it has have started to turn brown and die off, which is worrying me. I have looked closely at the tree and don't see any signs of bugs or of disease, yet still the tree seems stressed. Despite this, it made a large amount of oranges this year - it made around 50, and I picked off all but 10 as soon as they started growing, evenly spaced around the tree. The tree is about 4 feet tall, with a trunk diameter of 1.5 inches. Some more info: the tree is planted in semi-sandy, well draining soil in full sunlight (I live in California). I amended the soil with citrus compost 50/50. It is planted in an enclosed garden, well-sheltered from drafts. I used fertilizer spikes at first but they made no difference, so I switched to an organic 'all purpose' citrus fertilizer. I have set the sprinklers to water it once daily at 6am for 10 minutes, when it gets about a half inch of water. I also water it once a week with a half bucket of water, as it has been a hot summer (temps above 100 degrees). Does anyone know why my tree is so stressed? I want to help it grow more leaves but I don't know what more to do. The few oranges I left on are now full-sized and healthy-looking (although still green). Should I pick them off to try and boost the health of the tree or is there another solution to help it grow more leaves?
How to care for Florida citrus trees?
I'm in Florida and I have some citrus trees that weren't maintained well with the previous owner...btw I'm assuming that because one of them is no longer bearing fruit, not to mention the yard is in rough shape. I want to make sure I'm providing good care for these trees (lime is one, I'm not %100 sure of the others, tangelo maybe??). What are some things I should be doing? I read I'm not supposed to mulch, is that true? What about water? Miracle Grow?

How can I get my Calamondin to flower again?
Hi, I have a small calamondin citrus tree about 18" tall. When i got it, it had small green fruit on it, not yet ripe. Some of the fruit have ripened and fell off and some have yet to ripen. How can I get them to produce flowers and more fruit?
How often should you water citrus trees?
We live in Southern California. How often should we water our orange and lemon trees? The trees were planted before we moved in so we are not sure how to care for them. Any growing tips would be very appeciated. Thank you.

What can I do to help lemon and apple trees to actually give out fruit?
I always thought that my lemon and apple trees never gave out fruit because of the Texas weather, but I've been seeing so many houses with lemons and apples and pears on their trees. Only once did it seem like one of my trees was going to give lemons but they were blown away by the wind. I've had guava and papaya trees give out fruit but the lemon and apple trees just won't. Is there anything I can do?
How do I get my orange tree to grow....?
My orange tree was going good until it just... stoped growing. We figured out about half a year later that my dog was peeing on it. Now the strange thing is that orangie (we named it) was still alive after two years and it grows small oranges from time to time so its not dead yet. We put a small fence around it so my dog would stop peeing on it and it has been about a year and orangie still has not grown at all! Can any one tell me how to get it to grow again?
What type of orange tree do I have?
I am in southwest Florida. I have two orange trees in my yard. The tree branches have small thorns on them. The fruit doesn't look too healthy and when tried is sour. I think they're Navel (because of the thorns) orange trees. Any citrus experts out there? I have started to prune some of the dead branches to get more light in. They are heavily fruited, some orange, most green. I will be trying to see about how to care for them so they can produce good fruit.
Zone 9A Citrus trees turning yellow?
I have about nine citrus trees in my yard but 2 of them are turning yellow. They all get the same sun and water and are all around 2 years old. If it makes a difference it is a lemon and a lime tree that are turning yellow and I have other lemon and lime trees that are fine. Does anyone know what I should do for these two sad looking trees?
Question, When should my dwarf Washington Navel orange tree bloom?
i have a 3-4 year old washington navel orange tree (dwarf) and also a 3-4 year old dancy tangerine tree (also dwarf) and i was wondering when i should expect it to bloom and bear fruit? It gets about 5 hours of direct sunlight every day, unless it is cloudy out, and i water it once a week to once every two weeks when necisary. They went dormant over the winter because it was colder out (i live in New Jersey) even thoe they were indoors in pots. They have adiquit drainage holes and are now green and healthy, but some of the upper brances are still brown. Can anyone tell me the normal fruiting age for them?

What kind of friut tree would like to live in a container?
This harsh winter claimed our wonderful citrus tree that lived in a terracotta pot . The pot isabout 18 inches square. We fancy some kind of apple. Is there a variety that would like a pot?UK question. Meant to add that we want a winter hardy tree as we were working hard to keep the citrus alive each winter (wrapping and protecting it as too big to move indoors ) and dont want to have to worry about it so much again. Lemon might be a bit tender????
I have a lemon tree that refuses to flower; is there anything that I need to do for it to start?
I've had this lemon tree for about five years now, and it just won't flower. It's pretty big, almost constantly growing, and healthy (the leaves are shiny and dark green...) The company we bought it from advertised that it would start giving fruit within a year of purchase, but it's been way past that and there hasn't been a flower yet. Is there anything that I need to do before the tree will flower (specific fertilizer, trimming it down...), or is this a hopeless case?

Why does my wonderful lemon tree appear to be dying?
I have had a wonderful lemon tree for about 15 years. All of a sudden last year, it only produced about a dozen lemons, and this year it looks like it will only produce a half dozen. The leaves are yellow and sparse. Nothing has changed regarding the care of it. Should I chop it down and get a new one or is there a way to revive this one?

How to properly care for a lemon tree?
Could any one give me some tips and fact on how to care for a lemon tree sapling? I went to the store and bought some lemons, and I noticed the seeds inside of it. I'm like, "Hmm, I wonder if this would actually grow anything?" So I had been told that you're suppose to suck on the seeds until you no longer taste a tart in your mouth. So I did that and planted them into a plastic pot. About a month later, these small stems started popping up and then started growing leaves onto them. I didn't think it would actually work, but now they are maturing into lemon tree saplings :) It turns cold in the winter where I live, and hot in the summer. Where would be a good place to keep it during the winter? My house doesn't have many natural light sources, and I don't have a green house or a garage to keep it in. Should I just keep it indoors close to the nearest window and hope that it lives? Please answer, thanks!
How would you prune an orange to get it to produce the most oranges?
We live in the foothills out side Sacramento California and have three orange trees one tangerine and one lemon. I would like to know how to prune the orange trees so that they produce more oranges. The lemon tree might produce more lemons than the three orange trees produce oranges and the tangerine does not seem to produce any tangerines.*(this is the first year in many that it has had any and they are small even for a tangerine)
How often to feed an orange tree fertilizer?
It's small and it kept growing branches then they would snap off. It shriveled at one point so I fed it some tomato fertilizer, and I fed it it some more the next day. I don't want to kill it off with too much fertilizer.
